The Marion Police Department is warning the public about a scam that involves people going door-to-door to sell solar panels.
Some individuals also claimed to be at Alliant Energy and were seen on doorbell cameras walking around the house before ringing the doorbell.
The city requires a permit from anyone who goes door-to-door to sell anything, and solar sales have not been approved.
Alliant Energy also confirmed that they have no employees.
Police say you should not invite them into your home and call the non-emergency police number at (319) 377-1511.
