PIN RIVER — The Village of Pine River’s Balsam Moon Preserve is teaming up with the Minnesota Renewable Energy Society and the Solar Energy Society of America to participate in the 26th annual National Solar Tour in support of the world’s largest mass solar event.
The National Sun Tour, October 1 and 2, offers both on-site and virtual tours. Participants will be able to view online solar tour videos from around the country, and some sites will offer private tours.
This is the 6th year Balsam Moon Preserve has participated in the tour. They will be hosting both a virtual tour and an on-site tour on Saturday, October 1st from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
The site has energy-saving upgrades; Commercial solar thermal furnace since 2009; Homemade passive solar oven in the garage since 2020; Ground-mounted solar power array since 2011; energy efficient home improvements; alternative construction techniques; integrated systems; Electric Vehicle passive; Deep winter solar greenhouse from 2019.

ASES’ self-guided National Solar Tours have attracted more than 150,000 people in 49 US states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. National Solar Tours provide attendees with first-hand perspectives from homeowners and installers on the costs, processes, and economic and environmental benefits of going solar.
