STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) – Center County Commissioners have approved a resolution to enter into a new 18-month contract with Direct Energy Business, LLC, meaning the proposed Solar Power Purchase Agreement could face potential delays.
The project aims to add solar arrays to Walker Township to power local school districts and utilities. With the new agreement, the project can be delayed to give the contractor more time to work on it.

Administrator John Franek Jr. cited multiple “moving parts” as the driving factor behind the new deal. Those various parts require legal review and approval, which takes time, he said.
The project is part of the county’s goal of using 100% green energy, which would be a remarkable achievement.
