Arevon Energy, Inc., a leading renewable energy producer, owner and operator. and Meta Platforms, Inc. have signed two extensive Environmental Attribute Purchase Agreements (EAPA) for the Kelso Solar Project located in Scott County, Missouri. The 349 megawatt (MWac) Kelso Solar Project is expected to facilitate Meta’s regional operations by providing 100% renewable energy support.
Arevon will own and operate the Kelso Solar Project. The project is also expected to bring numerous economic benefits to the vicinity of the power plant. This includes more than 450 full-time equivalent construction jobs during the development phase and five permanent positions for ongoing operation and maintenance.
Additionally, land leases with local landowners are projected to generate millions of dollars in annual revenue. Over the life of the project, the solar facility is expected to provide more than $34 million to local governments and approximately $28 million to area schools. The project’s construction activities and ongoing operations will stimulate increased spending at local businesses, including shops, restaurants and hotels.
The first phase of the Kelso Solar Project is expected to be operational in the fourth quarter of 2025, with the next phase scheduled to follow shortly after in the first quarter of 2026.
“We meet 100 percent of our energy needs with renewable energy and continue to invest in clean energy projects as we grow. This partnership with Arevon decarbonizes our operations and contributes to a more sustainable, sustainable energy infrastructure,” said Urvi Parekh, Head of Meta Renewable Energy.
“Through the Kelso Solar Project, Arevon is pleased to contribute to Meta’s goal of powering its global operations with 100 percent renewable energy,” said Arevon Chief Executive Officer Kevin Smith. “We appreciate the opportunity to partner with Meta to help meet their impressive sustainability goals and accelerate the nation’s energy transition.”
