LSI INDUSTRIES SOLAR INSTALLATION PROVIDES CUSTOMERS WITH SIGNIFICANT ENERGY SAVINGS AND REDUCED CARBON FOOTPRINT
LSI Industries Inc., a leading US-based manufacturer of commercial and industrial lighting and display solutions. (Nasdaq: LYTS), today announced the results of a turnkey solar installation at a Speedy Stop gas station and convenience store in Austin, Texas. The LSI facility installs a full array of solar panels on top of a gas station canopy and car wash. On an annual basis, the system produces 170 megawatt-hours (MWh) of electricity. These results allow the LSI solar panel system to pay back the entire investment in less than four years.
“LSI has been a great partner for years. When the opportunity arose to install solar power at one of our sites, we were confident LSI could deliver,” said Cliff Thomas, CEO and founder of CL Thomas Inc., owner of Speedy Stop. “Now that we’re up and running, the investment is at LSI’s modeled levels and sometimes even higher. Our demand for electricity from the grid has been greatly reduced and our energy bills have been saved significantly!”
“There are over one hundred thousand gas stations in the United States, which represents a significant opportunity to use solar energy applications to realize significant energy savings in an environmentally friendly manner,” said James A. Clark, president and CEO of LSI Industries. “LSI is uniquely positioned to support the adoption of this technology as a leading manufacturer of energy-efficient lighting and display solutions in the gas station and C-store industries.” Clark continued: “This installation demonstrates LSI’s ability to provide innovative turnkey energy solutions, while expanding our presence in other emerging markets, including those that align with our long-term plans.”
