In commemoration of the 77th Independence Day, the Irrawaddy Region witnessed a number of auspicious events aimed at promoting rural development and improving the living conditions of the community. The festivities began with the inauguration of a small-scale solar energy system lighting project in Mygho Gone-Talyt-Wha Dhang Su village of Kyai Lat Township.
The opening ceremony, led by Union Minister U Hla Moe of the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, was a significant step towards providing sustainable electricity to rural communities. Underlining the government’s commitment to bridging the urban-rural development gap, Minister U Hla Moe highlighted the importance of renewable energy in improving living standards and supporting education, health and small-scale industries.
The ceremony, which was attended by the Chief Minister of the Irrawaddy Regional Government, U Tin Maung Win, and regional officials highlighted the joint efforts between the government and ZLT Super Electrical Company in the implementation of the solar energy system. Following the successful opening, the focus shifted to infrastructure development with the inauguration of the Rural Chinsek Bridge on Chinsek Road in Phayap Township and the Gwai Chaok Gyi Bridge in Kyai Lat Township. Inaugurated by Union Minister U Hla Moe and regional leaders, these vital bridges represent the government’s commitment to strengthen rural connectivity and facilitate the movement of agricultural products throughout the year.
Speaking at the ceremonies, Minister U Hla Moe emphasized the key role of good rural transport in supporting comprehensive development and reducing poverty. Newly commissioned bridges are an integral part of accelerating socio-economic development and reducing the development gap between urban and rural areas. Local residents have been urged to take an active part in maintaining the bridges and adhere to weight regulations to ensure their durability.

Union Minister U Hla Moe emphasized the importance of cooperative societies in increasing agricultural productivity and promoting commercial farming activities.
